What Our Travellers Say About Their Tasmanian Walking Experience
The whole walk was the best part! And the team at Auswalk were fabulous. Always available and really helpful when we needed them.
Lily S
The walk was by far the highlight of my autumn trip to Japan. The trail itself is absolutely gorgeous in late autumn with the maple leaves turning red and behind the scenes, Auswalk provided everything I needed, including some lovely choices of accommodation, to enjoy this amazing experience.
Cody R
This trek was amazing, and accommodation provided an opportunity to have a genuine traditional Japanese experience away from the busyness of a modern city.
Michael B
A fantastic walk, guided by two very knowledgeable guides who were able to accommodate the different abilities of our group (mid-50s to mid-80s). We have done many organised walks (both guided and self-guided), but Kathleen and David were the best.
Flinders Island is the Freycinet Peninsula without the crowds. The seafood platter on the last night was a fitting finale.

My friend and I walked the 4 day Three Capes self guided hike in Tasmania. Auswalk organised everything — transfers from Hobart, accommodation, all meals, and a marvellous young man to liaise and look after anything we required. This was a fantastic experience that was well organised. It was terrific value and I could not rate it more highly.

Bruny Island
4 days from $2,795. Group-Guided.
Wild Coastlines, Quiet Beaches & Native Forests.
Located just off the southeastern coast of Tasmania, Bruny Island is a spectacular destination known for its unique blend of dramatic natural landscapes, abundant wildlife, and exceptional gourmet food. Geographically, it's made up of two separate islands, North and South Bruny, connected by a long, narrow, sandy isthmus known as The Neck. This natural causeway is one of the island's most iconic features, offering breathtaking panoramic views from the Truganini Lookout and serving as a crucial breeding ground for little penguins and short-tailed shearwaters.
Bruny Island is a vital sanctuary for several rare and endangered species, most famously a thriving population of white wallabies. This unique genetic variation of the Bennett's wallaby flourishes here due to a lack of predators, making it a reliable place to spot these rare animals in the wild. The island is also a critical habitat for critically endangered birds, including the Forty-spotted Pardalote and the migratory Swift Parrot, both of which rely on the island's unique ecosystems for their survival. Keep your eyes out for these magnificent creatures!
Beyond its natural beauty, Bruny Island has become a renowned foodie destination. The Island's cool climate and pristine environment is perfect for producing a wide array of artisan goods. Visit the Bruny Island Cheese Company and sample local cheese, bread, and beer. Indulge in fresh oysters, caught by local fishermen off the south coast of Bruny Island in what's said to be the cleanest waters on the planet!
