Today’s walk has you walk from Fryerstown to Castlemaine. As you start your walk, you will soon find the remnants of the Spring Gully mines which was one of the most famous mines of the Castlemaine district operating from the 1850s until the 1930s. The walk then continues towards Castlemaine and takes you through the bush and endemic forest, via The Monk hill with great views, before following an old aqueduct into Castlemaine.
We give you plenty of time to explore the sights in Fryerstown. With a heritage as a local centre during the gold rush, this is a town that is packed with buildings from that era, as well as an open-air museum with items from the old mining days.
