What our Walkers Say

The whole walk was the best part! And the team at Auswalk were fabulous. Always available and really helpful when we needed them.

Lily S

The walk was by far the highlight of my autumn trip to Japan. The trail itself is absolutely gorgeous in late autumn with the maple leaves turning red and behind the scenes, Auswalk provided everything I needed, including some lovely choices of accommodation, to enjoy this amazing experience.

Cody R

This trek was amazing, and accommodation provided an opportunity to have a genuine traditional Japanese experience away from the busyness of a modern city.

The Blue Mountains guided walk on 12 - 15 October 2025 was a wonderful experience. It exceeded our expectations. Expertly guided by Robyn Totanhofer and superbly organised, the walk covered the outstanding natural beauty of the Blue Mountains in detail. Robyn took the time to seek each person's interests, identifying the flora and explaining notable landscape features perfectly. The walk organisation was outstanding. Accommodation in the Carrington Hotel was delightful. Also, the experience was similarly rewarding to our Western Australian Cape to Cape Auswalk in November 2022, guided by Katie and Marie.

Ian, Blue Mountains Grand Traverse

We recently completed the 5-day self-guided Great Ocean Walk. Not only was the walk itself amazing, but the organisation provided by Auswalk was absolutely seamless. Perfectly planned from the day I first enquired about the booking until we returned to Camperdown train station (where our Auswalk connection concluded). Just awesome! Thank you so much - we are already planning our next walking adventure.

Leading Australian Walkers Since 1993

  • 1. What does "self-guided" mean on an Auswalk trip?

A self-guided walk means you can explore at your own pace using detailed track notes and navigation tools provided by Auswalk. You'll have the freedom to walk independently while enjoying the security of 24/7 support from the Auswalk team. Our Australian self-guided trips are only availible for groups of two or more walkers. Your safety is our priority, therefore we aren't able to accommodate solo walkers on our self-guided itineraries. If you're a solo walker looking to explore Australia's incredible landscapes, we highly reccomend joining a group-guided trip.

    • 2.What does "group-guided" mean on an Auswalk trip?

A group-guided trip means you'll walk with expert guides and like-minded travellers. The guides take care of all the details so you can enjoy the trails without any worries.

    • 3.Will I have to carry a heavy pack?

No, Auswalk arranges for your luggage to be transferred between accommodations, allowing you to walk with just a daypack carrying your essentials.

    • 4.How fit do I need to be for Auswalk's Australian itineraries?

This depends on which itinerary you choose - we offer walks ranging from easy to challenging. Whichever walk you choose, we highly recommend investing time into physically preparing for the walk - this will make your time much more enjoyable and ensure you don't miss out on any epic sights! You can find more information about training for your walk in our Australian Walker's Guide, or through the Auswalk website. On most walks we offer shortening options to accommodate all types of travellers.

    • 5.What kind of accommodation is provided on Auswalk's Australian trips?

Accommodation options vary depending on which itinerary you choose, however, all trips are hand picked by Auswalk staff based off their comfort, quality, and location to ensure walkers are well rested. Most accommodation is 3-4 stars, with the exception of a few luxury 5 star lodges. All rooms are private (there's no dorms or camping on our trips), and most of the time feature a private ensuite. Occasionally on our group-guided trips you may have to share a bathroom with fellow travelleres when staying at one of our beautiful lodges. Speak with our alking experts about accommodation upgrade options at the time of booking.

    • 6.Are meals included in the trip?

Meals are included on most of our Auswalk trips and typically consist of a cooked or continental breakfast, a packed walker's lunch, and chef-prepared dinner. On some of our trips, lunch and dinner are not included - this is because the location has an abundance of resturants and cafes to choose from and we don't want to limit your culinary options.

    • 7.Can dietary requirements be catered for?

Yes, Auswalk can cater to various dietary needs. It's important to inform them of any specific requirements when booking to ensure appropriate arrangements are made.

    • 8.How to luggage transfers work?

Whilst you're on the trail, your main luggage is transported to the next accommodation - this means you don't have to lug all of your belongings across these epic landscapes. Instead, you'll walk with a light daypack filled only with essentials like a waterbottle, mobile phone, warm clothes, sunscreen, etc. A comprehensive daypack list is provided to all walkers in the walk notes.
