South Australia has one of the most extraordinary yet accessible walking destinations in Australia in the Flinders Ranges. It rivals the Kimberley for its exquisite desert landscapes and the sheer sense of space. Glorious views from the top of mountains await you as you meander your way through the Flinders Ranges. The Heysen Trail runs through the heart of the Northern Flinders Ranges via the ABC and Heyesen Ranges and through and over the Pound Wall to the beautiful Black Gap. The Rawsley Bluff and Tanderra Saddle hikes divert from the main Heysen trail but are sensation hikes.

Kangaroo Island is a not-to-be-missed walking bonanza with great coastal walks and the excellent, partly new, Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail. This walk makes its way via the iconic unique rock formations of Admirals Arch and Remarkable Rocks. Kangaroon Island is off the beaten track so expect to have it mostly to yourself.
