GENERAL INFO
This walk starts and finishes in the Blue Mountains with a short two-hour train ride (not included in the trip cost) from Sydney to the first accommodation. The Blue Mountain walks are along well-marked tracks and trails, occasionally with steeper sections either ascending out of or descending into the gorges and valleys below. It’s a great combination of easy-going, moderate and more challenging walking terrain.
Importantly, we walk in and out of accommodations and move you along the track in order to limit the travel time in a vehicle. Your luggage moves along with you seamlessly as you walk from one accommodation to the next with just your day pack.
The comprehensive walk notes included provide lots of information on the flora, fauna, history and geology of the Blue Mountains.

Public Transport: By far the easiest option is to catch a train from Sydney. For the 3 day trip your destination is Katoomba. It is approximately a 15 minute walk to your accommodation so you may prefer to catch a taxi (at your expense).
The train will take around 2hrs 10min from Sydney Central station and costs approximately AUD$8 to $12. You can buy tickets directly at the train station; there is no need to book. You can also catch the train at Sydney airport and swap at Central station. The trains in peak times depart approximately every 15 mins, out of peak every 30 mins to 40 mins. See the timetable for Blue Mountains trains.
Please note: If you would prefer a private taxi transfer we can provide details for you to arrange. This will be an additional cost and may take longer.

Staying at the Carrington was a highlight. As a Sydney resident, it was great to go walking so close to home. I had forgotten how beautiful the Blue Mountains are.

Our trip went really well. The walk was far more strenuous than I had anticipated. Serves me right lol. It took me out of my comfort zone but I completed it. I’m motivated to improve my fitness level and take on others hikes in Australia or abroad. Foods were of excellent quality.

My sons (11 and 13 yo) and I had a great time on the Blue Mountains Self Guided trip ! Awesome adventure and awesome support which, as the only adult on the trip, made it stress free and even more enjoyable

Myself and 5 other ladies took a self guided walk in the Blue Mountains in March 2019. The walks were truly amazing. Lots of options provided for every fitness level. We couldn’t fault the accommodation nor the food provided and the service from our hosts at both Lurline House (Katoomba) and Broomlea (Leura) was outstanding. We can highly recommend Auswalks for their well researched walks, accommodation choices and fast, efficient and friendly service.

I have just returned from my second trip with Auswalk. The first was to the Blue Mountains in September and this time was Tassie in January.
I can’t speak highly enough of the Auswalk experience, from the team in the office, the guides on the trail and the seamless trips.
The accommodation and food are top notch, the guides both expert and accommodating. with 2 guides on each trip, the offer to take an easier/harder option and to walk at your own pace is genuine, encouraged and supported.
I know I’ll be back for a third trip and then some!

I organised a walking trip for 10 school mum’s to the Blue Mountains with AusWalks. Their staff where fantastic from the outset and really understood what we wanted. They booked all our accommodation, transfers and meals along the way and provided comprehensive track notes. All we had to do was turn up and follow the dot points. The selections along the way where all excellent with a great mix of having a casual pizza night followed by a serious restaurant meal. I would thoroughly recommend AusWalks to anyone considering organising a walking holiday.

As UK based hikers we’ve done a lot of self guided walking in Europe but we were a little anxious about what walking in Australia was like. We need not have worried – from the first email contact with Auswalk we knew we were in safe hands. Auswalk’s attention to detail is second to none. We did 2 hikes on this trip: the Blue Mountains and the Cape-to-Cape. All the transport and accommodation worked out very well – we were treated like royalty by the local suppliers! The walk notes and maps were excellent and we loved all the extra detail – we felt we’d learned a lot on these walks.
So, don’t hesitate: book today! You’re sure to have a wonderful experience and enjoy the challenge.

3 day self-guided walk from Blackheath to Leura. Amazing terrain, very warm & bit muggy…walks are not so easy as it is up/down constantly. So very rewarding.
the BnB are spectacular…with very friendly hosts and wonderful accommodations.
Maps are easy to follow. Highly recommend.

Our walking group of old friends, numbering between 9 and 13, have completed three (3) Self Guided walks with Auswalk. Walks include, Rood of Australia, Blue Mountains and Mornington Peninsula. We have found on all walks that the scenery has been fantastic and very memorable. , Accommodation arranged, even for a group of our size, along meals provided have been of a very high standard with all proprietors being very helpful and eager to assist in any way. They all say how pleased they are working with Auswalk and their efficiency. The walking notes, maps and documentation provided bu Auswalk have been very concise, up to date and easy to follow. Notes have also included history of the area and details of fauna and flora where significant. Auswalk have always monitored our progress throughout our walks and provide easy contact if required. Their notes also include detailed information on transportation to and from starting/finishing points and good details for first aid etc. Overall we find Auswalk very efficient, an excellent provider of itineraries and we will definitely be using their services for future walks. We recommend Auswalk without hesitation. Paul
