OVERVIEW

Comfort is always a priority, at the end of each day’s walk, we have ensured that there is a hot shower, a cosy bed, an en suite and plenty of quiet. A good night’s sleep is mandatory and ensures that you wake rested and primed, ready for the next day’s adventure on the Camino, of course, only after a satisfying breakfast.  The accommodations we have chosen reflect the character and history of the region.

On the upgraded, luxury version of this walk, the accommodations are all 4-star or better. Even though the accommodations are much more luxurious, they still reflect the culture of the region. In addition, you can still expect a warm country welcome each day and all the hospitality typical of being in a country like Portugal.

It’s no coincidence that when walkers visit Portugal, they almost immediately fall in love with the food and wine. In Portugal, every dish, recipe, and ingredient has a story to tell. This is a world you’ll get to experience both on foot but also with your knife and fork. The Camino passes through many towns renowned for their excellent, authentic, and traditional food. In the North, it is worth frequenting Spanish Tapas bars to experience the wide range of local delicacies available.

Both Portugal and Spain have ancient wine industries. Many of the wines on this walk are not available anywhere else. However, alcohol or drinks with meals are not included (except tea/coffee and juice with breakfast).

ngraph

DISTANCE - BELOW AVERAGE

Distance is not a major consideration in your training program. However, you should still incorporate some long walks as it will increase your cardiovascular fitness.

ELEVATION - BELOW AVERAGE

Elevation is not a major consideration regarding how you train. However, you should still incorporate some form of resistance training as it will increase your endurance.

TERRAIN - FLAT TERRAIN

Training for walking on flat, hard terrain primarily focuses on building endurance and ensuring you can maintain a comfortable pace. Start with regular walks on sidewalks, roads, or paved paths to acclimate to the surface. Maintain a proper posture and engage your core muscles to support your back and maintain a steady gait. Ensure that you have comfortable, supportive footwear with adequate cushioning. If endurance is important, consider incorporating low-impact cross-training activities like swimming or cycling into your routine.

Travelling to the Start of the walk

You will need to get yourself to and from the start and end of your walk. i.e. you will need to organise your travel to the start of the walk in Tui.  To make it easier, we have collated some helpful information to assist you in making travel arrangements.

Vigo Airport (Vigo–Peinador Airport ) is about 33 km from the city centre. There are regular flights from and to almost all major European cities. There is an airport bus available from outside the terminal, which takes you to the city centre. Then, take a 40-50 minute bus to Baiona.

VIGO – TUI: Lugove (http://www.lugove.es) buses depart daily from the Vigo Intermodal Station (Rúa de Vía Norte, 36204, Vigo, Pontevedra). The journey typically takes between 30 and 50 minutes. Tickets can be purchased at the bus station.

Our transport partners on the ground can also provide private transfer on all routes. Do not hesitate to contact us.

Travelling from the End of the walk
