Some properties offer evening wine tastings and gourmet dinners on site, making the most of Burgundy's exceptional culinary reputation.

A breakfast of fresh regional ingredients is included each morning. Lunch and dinner are yours to choose, which in Burgundy is a pleasure in itself. From village bistros and market stalls at lunchtime to gourmet restaurants in the evening, with some of the world's most celebrated wines available by the glass.

More About This Trip

Paris is the closest international airport, with direct trains to Dijon taking approximately 1.5 hours. Alternatively, we can arrange a private transfer to your hotel. The walk concludes in Meursault, with a transfer to Beaune included on the final morning, from where trains run directly back to Paris.

This walk is available from 1 March to 30 November. Spring and autumn are particularly rewarding — May and June bring the vineyards to life, while September and October coincide with the Burgundy harvest season, when the vines turn gold and the cellars are at their most active. Midsummer is warm and pleasant, though the most atmospheric walking is found in the shoulder months on either side.

Several pre-bookable experiences are available to enhance your time in Burgundy.

Château Clos de Vougeot (Day 2): A guided tour of the château followed by a four-course Burgundy-inspired lunch and tasting of six wines, delivered in English. Available Tuesday to Sunday from April to October, and Thursday to Sunday in March and November. Starts at 11:30am.

Château de Meursault (Day 6): A guided tour of the cellars followed by a tasting of eight wines. Available daily between 10am and 12pm and 2pm to 6pm from April to October, and Wednesday to Sunday mornings in March and November.

Dinner at Clos Saint Jacques (Day 6): A four-course dinner of starter, main, cheese and dessert, paired with one white and two red wines.

You must hold adequate travel insurance for your trip, including cover for personal liability and accidental injury and illness. For all trips involving international travel, your policy must also include emergency medical treatment, evacuation and repatriation cover. We strongly recommend your policy also covers trip cancellation and curtailment, and loss of or damage to luggage.

A cancellation fee usually applies if you cancel after your booking is confirmed. Travel insurance with cancellation cover will generally cover this fee, so it's worth arranging your policy at the time of booking.

Everything you need to know about walking in Burgundy with Auswalk.

Mobile reception is limited on some of the more remote walking tracks in Burgundy. Auswalk provides a walking app with GPX files that can be downloaded and viewed offline, making navigation straightforward even without reception. A digital roadbook with detailed hiking itineraries and integrated maps is also provided before departure.

Your main luggage is transferred between accommodations each day, so you only need to carry a daypack on the trail. One bag per person is included in the transfer service, with a maximum weight of 20kg. Leave your clearly labelled bag at reception on check-out and it will be waiting for you at your next accommodation.

Two optional extras are worth planning ahead for. The Château Clos de Vougeot tour is available Tuesday to Sunday between April and October, and Thursday to Sunday in March and November. The Château de Meursault wine tour is available daily between October and April with a midday closure, and Wednesday to Sunday mornings in March and November. Both can be pre-booked through our team.

mart casual attire is appropriate for evenings, particularly if dining at finer restaurants or attending wine tastings along the route. The region takes its food and wine seriously, and dressing accordingly adds to the experience.

Yes. Please advise us of any dietary requirements at the time of booking so we can inform your accommodation hosts and restaurants. If you have severe allergies, bringing some of your own snacks is recommended. The local markets in Dijon and Beaune are also excellent spots to pick up produce and provisions along the way.

Yes. While credit cards are widely accepted at hotels and restaurants, smaller cafes, local markets and village shops may prefer cash. ATMs are readily available in both Dijon and Beaune. The currency throughout France is the Euro. Note that a small tourist tax is payable directly to your accommodation at checkout — the amount varies by property.

Key items include comfortable walking shoes suitable for moderate terrain, layers for changing conditions, sun protection for open vineyard walking and a 20 to 30 litre daypack for daily essentials. Smart casual clothing is recommended for evenings. French power outlets are Type E or C, so bring an appropriate adapter.
