Overview

Walk 150 kilometres of the Bibbulmun Track from Walpole to Albany through a pristine wilderness of extraordinary biodiversity. Towering forests, mist-shrouded valleys, giant granite boulders, coastal heathland, and idyllic coves line the route. The track follows clifftops and elevated vantage points like Monkey Rock, avoiding beach walking in favour of more dramatic terrain.

Wildflowers bloom year-round, contrasting vividly against azure ocean views and white sandy beaches. The diversity of coastal scenery and endemic flora and fauna makes this one of the most rewarding walks in Australia.

Where You'll Stay

Eight nights of en-suite accommodation are spread across B&Bs, motels and remote cottages in locations that reflect the best of the Bibbulmun Track. Local hosts look after accommodation, meals and transfers with care and attention, making the logistics of each day feel effortless and leaving you free to focus on the walking.

What You'll Eat

Walking the Bibbulmun Track builds a proper appetite, and the meals on this walk are ready for it. Each day begins with a cooked breakfast before stepping out on the trail, with six included throughout. Five walker's lunches are provided out on the track, with a high-protein salad, a roll or wrap, a muesli bar, something sweet and fresh fruit, all in your own insulated lunch bag. Come evening, five two and three-course dinners are prepared by chefs where possible, with a focus on local and regional food.

Please advise us of any food allergies or intolerances at the time of booking. If you have severe allergies, bringing some of your own snacks is recommended, as specialist ingredients can be harder to source along the way.

Note: Drinks and alcohol are not included with meals, with the exception of tea, coffee and juice served with breakfast.

More About This Trip

The walk starts in Walpole and finishes in Albany, in the south of Western Australia. Perth (PER) is the main international gateway. From Perth, a daily TransWA train and coach service departs mid-morning from East Perth Terminal, arriving in Walpole at around 4.00 to 4.30pm. Reservations are essential and can be made up to three months in advance. Those driving from Perth can reach Walpole in around 5 hours; arrangements to leave a vehicle in Walpole or Denmark can be made on request. Rex Airlines operates daily flights between Perth and Albany, from where a TransWA bus or private transfer connects to Walpole in around 1 hour 45 minutes.

The walk ends in Albany, from where Rex Airlines flies daily to Perth. A daily TransWA coach also departs Albany in the morning, arriving in Perth at around 6.00pm. Those who left a vehicle in Walpole can arrange a private transfer back at an additional cost. Please contact us for further details.

This walk is available throughout the year, with no fixed start days. Spring is undoubtedly the finest season, with Western Australia's famous wildflower display turning the trail into a botanical spectacle. Autumn offers mild, dry days with daytime temperatures around 20 to 25°C, ideal for long walking days. Winter is possible but brings prolonged wet spells and cooler temperatures, particularly in the southern sections. Summer is the warmest time of year on the track; early starts are essential and it is worth checking conditions carefully before setting out. Pack layers and sun protection whatever the season.

Tracks are mostly flat and well-defined, with some sandy sections underfoot. Easier options are available on some days, and a rest day is strongly recommended given the cumulative demands of the route.

Building up to comfortably walking for a full day, including back-to-back walking days, is the most useful preparation. A Bibbulmun Track map and comprehensive walk notes are provided.

You must hold adequate travel insurance for your trip, including cover for personal liability and accidental injury and illness. For all trips involving international travel, your policy must also include emergency medical treatment, evacuation and repatriation cover. We strongly recommend your policy also covers trip cancellation and curtailment, and loss of or damage to luggage.

A cancellation fee usually applies if you cancel after your booking is confirmed. Travel insurance with cancellation cover will generally cover this fee, so it's worth arranging your policy at the time of booking.

Full insurance requirements are set out in our booking terms and conditions.

A detailed information pack and itinerary will be sent to you around six weeks before departure, covering everything you need to know for a seamless experience. In the meantime, our team is always on hand to answer any questions.

Our group has just finished a 6 day walk through the Bibbulmun Track. Auswalks organised everything brilliantly which made our job simple by just enjoying ourselves and allowing us to just enjoy the walk through amazing areas of our country. I would highly recommend Auswalks to anyone as the company were a pleasure to deal with and nothing is too much trouble to them. We will be back to do another one soon. Thank you.
